Frank V Fazio, M.D. passed away peacefully on November 18, 2018 in St Petersburg, Florida. He was born on February 14, 1927 in St Augustine, Florida, the third of seven children born to John and Lucia Fazio. He attended St Joseph’s Academy and was drafted out of high school into the Navy where he served as a medic in Bremerton, WA. After discharge, he attended Emory University and Emory University Medical School, graduating in 1953. He trained as a rotating intern at St Louis City Hospital and as a urology resident at Duke University Medical Center. While at Duke he met and married fellow student, Mary Ann Powers. Upon moving to St Petersburg in 1957, he established a successful urology practice that continued until his retirement in 1999. He was on the medical staff of multiple local hospitals including St Anthony’s, Bayfront Medical Center, St Petersburg General Hospital and Edward White Hospital, where he served as Chief of Staff.

Frank was a devout Catholic throughout his life and a founding member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in St Petersburg. He was a daily communicant and served as a Sunday lector for many years. He was a 55-year member of St Petersburg Country Club (formerly Lakewood) where he spent many hours on the golf course with his beloved golfing buddies. He thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie of his medical colleagues, and didn’t know a stranger. Born with the gift of gab, he loved any social gathering, always being the last to leave. Frank was a life long learner, enjoying hospital Grand Rounds in retirement, library book clubs and taking Italian lessons to refresh his knowledge of a language learned in childhood. He was also a sports enthusiast, following the Bucs, Rays, professional golf, the Florida Gators and Notre Dame football.

Frank will be sadly missed by his wife of 61 years, Mary Ann, his children Sharon Manzo (Kirk), Teresa Kropp (Robert), Michael (Debra), Mark (Connie), Nancy, Matthew (Tricia), Stephen and grandchildren Andrew Kropp, Alicia and Chris Fazio, Cleve and Libby Fazio, Laura Fazio and one sister Lucy Evans and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Frank’s life may do so by donating to St Anthony’s Hospital Foundation at A funeral mass will be held on Saturday November 24th, 2018 at 10am at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church with reception to follow at St Petersburg Country Club.
