Karen Lucibello, nee O'Connell, left this world Friday Oct. 12, 2018. She fought a brave and undaunting battle against ovarian cancer for over a year and a half. Karen was born and raised in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NY. She attended Visitation Catholic elementary school and Fontbonne Hall Academy in Bay Ridge.
She loved to read mystery novels, play cards on the computer, do crossword puzzles, entertain friends and loved ones during the holiday season, knit with her dearest friend, Nancy, loved to have cats (Buttons, her cat as a child growing up, Tiger, Missy, Spud, Skeezix, Ziggy, and her favorite cat, Spike) and watch the Lightning hockey games with her husband, Chris.
She had a B.A. in chemistry from Hunter College (a part of CUNY), a B.A. in history from Eckerd College and a Masters degree in Florida Studies from USF. She worked as a Chemistry Stockroom manager for 29 years at Eckerd College. Karen also loved to travel to Europe (5 visits) and explore the historic places that were a part of her passion for studying western civilization's past. She will be dearly missed by those who knew her and loved her. R.I.P.
