Virginia "Ginger" (Pirnat) Shea passed away on July 27,2018 surrounded by family. She was born in Viroqua, Wisconsin to Ed and Vernia Pirnat on September 22, 1935 and moved to St. Petersburg in 1948. She graduated from St. Petersburg High School in 1953 and attended Bixby Business College. She worked for John B.Greene Insurance & Guarantee Abstract Company before becoming a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Vernon "Skip" Shea to whom she was married for 54 years, her parents Ed and Vernia Pirnat and her sister, Marleah Self. She was a Cub Scout den mother and assistant Brownie Leader. She loved making miniature rooms, collecting antiques, and taking family trips. Ginger was devoted to her family and made every gathering and holiday special.
She is survived by her son, Michael (Judy) Shea, and her daughter Marleah (Hank) Mitchell, Grandchildren Thomas (Melanie) Shea, Sarah (Ryan) Phelan, Eric Mitchell, Samantha Mitchell and 3 great grandchildren.
A Mass is being celebrated at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 17, 2018 at the Cathedral of St. Jude (Our Lady's Chapel) with entombment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southeast Guide Dogs at www.guidedogs.org. (link at bottom of this page)
