Obituary

Walter Blaise Raine passed from our sight on November 17, 2017. Welcomed by Vincent and Beatrice (Tarrant) Raine, February 3, 1940, in Weehawken, N.J., Walter lived in New Jersey until moving to St. Petersburg in 1988. There, he met and married his beloved wife of 27 years, Karen Antrim Raine. After Navy service and during college at Rutgers, Walter began his successful sales, management, training, and consulting career in NYC, which expanded throughout the U.S. and Canada. Walter has enjoyed a variety of interests, including travel throughout the U.S. and world with Karen, acting in community theater and film, Sousa marches, football, golf, fishing, boating, crossword puzzles, politics and much more. He is a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, and has enjoyed participating in church activities, particularly reading and Bible study groups. He has been involved with a variety of organizations, including St. Vincent DePaul, community theaters, Toastmasters, Tin Can Sailors, and the Lion’s. Walter’s goodness and humor shine and he brightens the lives of all who know him. Gone from our sight before him are his parents, and siblings Vincent (Buddy) Raine, Mary Satzinger, Joan Thorpe, and Isabel Redling. His wife Karen, his children Jennifer and Daniel (Heather), 3 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends are here to cherish him. Friends will be received at the Brett Funeral Home, 4810 Central Ave., Monday, Nov. 27th from 5-7PM with a Wake Service at 6:00PM. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, Nov. 28th at 10:00AM at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial with military honors to follow at Florida National Cemetery.
