Obituary

DOLRETA L. CORY, (90) died October 9, 2017, St Petersburg, FL

Born February 11, 1927 on Lincoln Street in Boise near the city's original Municipal Airport (presently the campus of Boise State University) to Alice Rigby Flood and beloved stepfather, Robert O. Flood, Dolreta (Dolly) attended Garfield, Central and Longfellow grade schools in Boise and several in California, moving from one location to another during the unsettled years of the Great Depression. She graduated from Boise High School in 1944, was employed as a secretary at C.C. Anderson's Central Office, Dependable Wholesale and Associated Food Stores. In 1946, Dolly was crowned the first Miss Boise. In 1948, she and John (Jack) A. Cory married and became parents of three daughters, Renai (now deceased), Denise and Janell. Dolreta assisted in the operation of Jack's business as self-employed floor coverings specialist. In 1984, they toured England where he served in the Army Air Corps during WWII, and to Paris where Dolreta's maternal grandmother was born. Jack died the following year.

Dolreta met her beloved companion, William L. House of Hailey, ID of 26 years (now deceased) and they became full-time RV travelers, roaming the country for six years--an adventuresome highlight of their lives. They later settled in Twin Falls, ID.

Free-spirited and independent, Dolreta spent her free time creating oil and watercolor paintings, wood carvings, mosaics, beautifying her yard and sharing the bounty of her gardens with friends. She was a member of a Westgate bowling league for several decades, corresponded the longtime friends and interesting folk met during her years 'on-the-road', was an avid reader, loved music and dancing, camping, hiking, fishing and felt a special love for animals. (donations to any animal rescue/shelter, if you wish)

She is survived by her cherished daughters Denise Cornella and Janell L. Cory who reside in Florida, Grandson Jamis Harms, niece Shannon (Cory) Page and nephew Tom Cory and their families of Boise, ID.

Love and appreciation to you all.

(Written by my beloved Mother....you have such a kind and loving soul, you will be missed)
