Frances Ann Doherty Lavieri, 89, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 28, 2017. Frances (affectionately known as "Frana" to her "grands" and "great-grands") was born in 1927 in Winsted, Connecticut to John James and Frances Carrol Doherty. She grew up in Winsted and graduated from the Gilbert School. In 1956, she moved to Florida with her husband and four young children. Throughout her life in Florida, she remained close with family in Connecticut.

Known for her faith, grace, smile, and strength, Frances will be deeply missed. She was a long-time parishioner at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. For 25 years, she worked as a personnel specialist at JCPenney. Actively engaged in civic activities, Frances volunteered with the Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, the Pinellas Visual Aid Society, and Pasadena Property Owners' Association, among other organizations. She was a gifted baker and seamstress, and her Blue-ribbon pies, fanciful birthday cakes, and expert sewing and knitting projects brought smiles to many faces. She was also a steadfast cheerleader at youth sporting events and a lover of the ballet and of reading. True to her adventurous and loving spirit, she welcomed all creatures into her home, including the family's pet raccoon, Cheryl.

Frances was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she was treasured by her family. She leaves behind her dear sister Sheila Doherty Bahre and husband Henry of Canton, Connecticut and her four children, Peter M. Lavieri and his wife Joan of Avon, Connecticut; James R. Lavieri of Bradenton, Florida; Nicholas E. Lavieri of Gulfport, Florida; and Eleanor (Norni) Lavieri Miller and her husband Tim of St. Petersburg, Florida. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Ashie Santangelo and her husband Louis of Hershey, Pennsylvania and Maria (Tippy) Sollitto and her husband Frank of New Hartford, Connecticut.

Frana will be greatly missed by her eight grandchildren, Alicia Budney, Stephen Budney, Scott Lavieri, Jennifer Lavieri Hoch, Joshua Lavieri, Ashley (Miller) Palmer, Allison (Miller) Gonzalez, and Grant Miller; her six great-grandchildren, Norah Grace Buzzeo, Anna Buzzeo, Jenson Lavieri, Jake Lavieri, Caleb Hoch, and Stella Hoch; and her many grand-dogs. A Mass at Most Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Gulfport, Fl and a Celebration of her Life will be held at a later date.

The family wishes to thank all of the staff at Westminster Shores and Dr. Adam Prawer for their kind and dedicated care and attention.

Frances requested that any remembrances be made in her name to the Patrick Brett Foundation, an organization that provides opportunities for individuals in need of second chances. A link is at the bottom of this page.
