Emily N. Kirbach, 98, passed away March 21, 2017 at Bon Secours Maria Manor. She was born in Pittsburg, Kansas June 29, 1918. From an early age, Emily was devoted to the Catholic Church, and shared her faith with all who she encountered. She moved to Florida with her young family in 1952, and worked as an executive assistant in the Pinellas County School System beginning at St. Petersburg high school and finally retiring in the early 80s from a position with the Area Superintendent.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Susan K and Clint Massey, her son and daughter in law, Mathias and RoseAnn Kirbach, 7 Grandchildren, Jenifer and husband Carl, Cindy and husband Keith, Patrick and wife Jennifer, Theresa and husband Daniel, Kristin and husband Bryan, Peter, Michelle and husband Richard, and 11 Great Grandchildren, Michael and fiancé Melissa, Rachel, Jacob and fiancé Kayla, Jacob (Airmen First Class USAF), Emily, Haylee, Casey, Jocelyn, Charlie Lynn, Vincent, and Mary.
Emily's legacy will be realized through everyone who was lucky enough to know her. Always a willing teacher, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren remember life lessons gleaned from hours spent together: how cook, how to sew, how to grow what you need, how to do it yourself, but most importantly how to give love in all you do. From doll houses to chocolate chip cookies it was always an adventure at Grandma K's.
Services will be Friday March 24th at the Cathedral of St. Jude the Apostal (Chapel): Visitation at 12:00pm followed by mass at 1:00.
Though Emily loved flowers, the family requests donations be made to Suncoast Hospice in lieu of flowers.
