Largo - Mary Bernadette Ruetschi (Griffin), 60, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 13th, 2017 at Tampa General Hospital. She was born in 1957 in Buffalo, New York, to John “Reggie” Griffin and Margaret “Jeanie” Griffin, Mary’s Buffalonian upbringing nurtured in her an enduring warmth of spirit and love of football.
Mary ardently believed in the value of education. She earned her B.A. from Daemen College and M.A. in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Services from the University of South Florida. She dedicated over 30 years to a career in rehabilitation. Her successes won her both personal and professional recognition, as well as the genuine gratitude of the clients she empowered. Mary B. improved the lives of thousands.
Mary was a loving and beloved mother and “Punkies”, trusted colleague, caring neighbor, and honest friend. She is survived by her children George (Laura), Sean, and Jenny (Paul), her grandchildren Josie and Bridget, and everyone’s favorite little ace Smokee dog.
Services will include a formal viewing at Brett Funeral Home on Monday, July 17th (4-8pm), and a Funeral Mass at St. Mathew’s Catholic Church in Largo on Tuesday, July 18th at 10:30 AM Entombment to follow at Calvary CatholicCemetery
