Ludwig L. Kolb, age 81, died on February 1st, 2018, peacefully in his home after a long battle with emphysema. Mr. Kolb is survived by his wife, Maria Carmen Kolb, and four children: Theresa L. Kolb, Michelle E. Kolb, Eva M. Kolb, and Steven Kolb. He is survived by five grandchildren, Thomas Joseph Tallent, Robert Tallent, Ines Rabidoux, Joaquin Kuno, and Liam Kuno. Mr. Kolb is also survived by his only sister, Evelyn Kolb.
Retired CMSGT L.Kolb is a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served with distinction and earned: Bronze Star Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry for his bravery and dedication. He was born in Erlangen, Germany, the oldest child and only son of Ludwig and Babette Kolb, and together with his family he emigrated to the U.S. as a teenager. He joined the U.S. Air Force shortly after graduating from high school and served his country with pride and honor for 29+ years, for which he earned the Air Force Meritorious Service Medal and other Commendation Medals. His passion for learning led him to earn multiple degrees with the highest honors including Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science by Univ. of Maryland. He was a member of the distinguished Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and wisdom, as well as for his exemplary work ethic, patriotism, and dedication to his family. May God Bless him and hold him by his hand.
He will be interred on Tuesday, February 13th, at 11:30 am, in Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Rd 72 Sarasota 34241, Florida.
