WILLIAMS, Catherine “Kay” , 85, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2010 at Freedom Square in Seminole, FL.
Catherine was born on August 25, 1925 in Washington, D.C. to John and Ellen Donohue (dec). Catherine moved to St. Petersburg in 1943 and married Thomas Williams (dec.) in 1950. Catherine Williams lived in the Azalea area of Saint Petersburg for 50 years.
She was known for her work in the recreational department at Walter Fuller Community Center and as an active member in Azalea’s Neighborhood Association.
Catherine was involved in the Democratic Committee and she always enjoyed a good political debate.
Catherine’s biggest passion was painting. She was a well accomplished, award-winning artist in the St. Petersburg area. Her paintings were proudly displayed at many art shows, to include the Ringling Art Museum located in Sarasota. Her artistic style was centered on landscapes which she painted from places she visited. Today, most of Catherine’s art work is humbly displayed within the homes of her surviving family.
Catherine loved her 3 sisters; Mary Roberts (dec.), Ellenor Wiggins (Orlando) and Lillian Walters (El Paso).
5 children; Catherine Wales-Schaaf (Ruskin), Cynthia Hearn, (St. Petersburg), Candace Lilly (St. Petersburg), Colleen Richards (St. Petersburg) and Christopher Williams (Tallahassee).
9 Grandchildren; Donald Kunish, Thomas Kunish, Michael Lilly, Colleen Lilly-Lee, Erin Hearn, Sean Hearn, Candace Richards, Cayden Williams and Hudson Williams.
3 Great-Grandchildren; Lola Lee, Bode Lee and Luna “Sadie” Kunish.
The viewing for family and friends will be held at Brett Funeral Home, 4810 Central Avenue St.Petersburg, on May 15th from 10am-11am. The Graveside Service to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 5233 118th Avenue North Clearwater at 11:30am.
